Widely
known as French Oak, this charming wood adds character
to any setting with its natural beauty. This is the most
extensively used wood in Europe for many reasons. It's
neutral color and vast stain capabilities allow versatility
to complement any décor. The natural grain variation
accentuates the remarkable appearance to create a charming
atmosphere. Abroad, European Oak has been in
churches and homes for hundreds of years and maintained
its beauty and charm. One of the reasons it lasts
so long is that it is repugnant to insects.

This
unique wood has distinct coloring not found in any
other wood. The European Cherry Tree is a
smaller fruit tree. The colors range from
cream white to a brown cream complemented by dark
brown. The European Cherry differs from American
Cherry in that it doesn't have a lot of pink tone
to it. Subtle nuances in the grain gives this
wood an engaging and warm appearance. This

| European Birch |
|
Because of its central place in the Russian forests,
birch was revered as a sacred tree. Its bark and
wood were used many years ago in Northern Russia
and Siberia to make shoes called “lapti.” Thought
to have healing properties, these shoes provided
protection from the bitter cold. It has a
smooth silky surface very pleasant to the touch,
nature's satin indeed. Birch is delightfully
warm and pleasing to the eye. This beautiful
wood makes every room enchanting.

| European Ash |
|
European Ash is
considered an upscale wood. It's
coloring is a light white cream tone with a plethora
of colors throughout. The Ash Tree has a fascinating
history. They secrete a sugary substance from their
bark and leaves, which until the early part of this
century was harvested and sold under the name "manna".
In the nineteenth century this product was important
as a pharmaceutical. Even as recently as the
beginning of this century, there were Germans who gave
newborns honey from ash trees, and Scottish highlanders
who gave infants sap from the ash tree for their first
food. The secretion of fermentable honey by
the ash tree gave the Indo-Europeans good reason for
their particular attention to that tree, and for their
apparent belief that it was the nurse of gods and men.
The honey in its perfect and original form which flowed
through the tree provided the food of the gods. The
nectar and ambrosia of the Olympian gods is often compared
to honey. Therefore just as the word ash physically
linked gods and men, its fermented resins could provide
communion between gods and men.
European Ash is harder than Oak with excellent dent
and shock resistance. |
