| Stockbridge Village,
Hampshire. The village is steeped in history, having been a favourite
location
of Lillie Langtry and King Edward VII for their meetings away
from the gossip of London society. In appearance this rural,
quiet
village seems to have changed little but time is catching up – Stockbridge
has an increasing problem with theft. The Chairman of the Parish
Council called in Abacus UK Security Systems after having tried
to obtain a satisfactory solution to the problem for some months.
We have gained considerable experience in working with Town and
Parish Councils. We were pleased to spend time evaluating how
we could offer a surveillance system which suited the varied
requirements of the local businesses, The Police, the residents,
The Parish Council, the Planning Committee and the Manager of
the hotel where the cameras were to be mounted. A wireless system
was required, to transmit captured images across the High Street
into the Police Station where the recording equipment is installed.
The cost of the system was to be met mainly by donations from
local businesses plus a grant from The Police, therefore value
for money was a major concern. We supplied the system for much
less than the £8000 continually quoted in the national
press. |

Having gained approval from
The Planning Committee and The Police, the Parish Council was
keen to proceed with the installation
as soon as possible. We sourced a purpose built mounting platform
for the cameras to avoid them being installed directly upon the
hotel structure, a listed building. We installed the 2 colour
cameras, transmitters, receivers and recording system in a day.
We trained designated personnel in how to use the equipment and
save images for evidence. The installation has been such an immediate
success that ITN News, BBC News, local radio, local and national
Press all descended upon the village to feature it. We have since
been asked to install a third camera.
