"Jazz, Soul, Latin…..I
simply sing human music……"

Born in St. Albans. Herts.
Tania Rosato’s musical apprenticeship began after graduating
from Middlesex University in 1997 with an honours degree in
music and performing arts. Singing professionally with the
Bruce Boardman band she set about honing her skills on cruise
liners touring the Far East and appearing in various jazz
festivals and clubs around the country. Working alongside
a diverse range of established and respected artists including
Jim Mullen, Harry Beckett, Kenny Ball, Bill Le Sage, Dave
Cliff, Campbell Burnap, Chas Hodges (from Chas & Dave)
and a host of others. Tania has gained a wealth of experience
and knowledge in the art of performance and vocal expertise.
|
With her own Quartet, featuring
some of London’s finest young, up and coming Jazz musicians
Tania recorded her first Demo. This Included carefully thought
out arrangements of songs Tania would call her, “favourite
Jazz Standards”. With demo in hand Tania began approaching
the well-known and established jazz clubs in and around London.
In time she would perform at “Ronnie Scotts”, “Pizza
on the park”, “The festival foyer”, “The
606 club” and “The Jazz café”.

A long time fan of Ella Fitzgerald,
Dinah Washington, Stevie Wonder, Betty Carter, and Marvin Gaye,
Tania began to focus on creating her own style of vocal sound.
She developed an interest in a wide and diverse range of musical
genres, including gospel, soul, Latin to African folk songs
and this is clearly reflected with her inventive use of rhythm
and melody. When Lester Young was asked to recreate the Basie
style of the 30’s he replied, “ I don’t play
that way anymore. We change, move on”. Tania is one such
singer who has the foresight to extend the traditions without
forgetting the past.
|
In 1999 a chance meeting with
Producer and songwriter Mike Maslen brought about a new phase
in Tania’s singing career. They joined forces with writing
team Gail-Louise James and Tracey Brennecke and formed the Band
Slinky Minx, who were quickly snapped up by Tom Jones Management
Company, Halo UK. This went on to produce an album of twelve
funky dance tunes and appearances at the Hippodrome and top
London nightspot “Sophisticats”.

Tania‘s flair for writing imaginative
and thought provoking lyrics resulted in a special song writing
partnership with the innovative composer and bandleader Simon
Thorpe and soon she became a member of Improphonics, formed
by Simon and consists of some of the finest Musicians on the
London scene today. Other collaborations of note is with the
exciting and versatile performer, composer Ciyo Brown. Tania
is a member of Ciyo’s extremely popular and well-respected
band, currently touring the U.K.
|
Tania Continues to lend her vocal
skills and musical expertise to all aspects of the music scene
whether it be in Pop, R & B, Jazz, Soul or Latin and constantly
draws on all these musical experiences to create a distinctive
and unique vocal sound. Recently Tania has appeared on the Brit
awards with the Spice girls.
